More Free Diapers

I found an interesting post today over at Engineer A Debt Free Life. The blog talks about a company that does paid diaper surveys (they send you a pack of diapers, you provide your feedback and they send you $10 for your participation). I called the number and left a message and will hopefully get a call back.

Walgreens Diapers for $2.50 per Pack

Walgreens jumbo packs of diapers are 2/$9 this week (thru 3/21). $4.50 a pack. Hot deal. But because you're a smart shopper, you can get them for merely $2.50 a pack!

Go to your pharmacy and pick up the red "$50 in Great Savings" booklet and use the $2 coupon that's in there (it expires on 6/30/09). This turns out to around 7-9c per diaper - the retail price on most diapers is 25 or 26c).

Last time Walgreens had a deal like this, I ordered a special shipment from my local Walgreens manager in order to take full advantage of this offer. For the coupon, the register will usually take $2 off each pack, but it depends on your store's register (I've been to the same store and one day it will take $2 off each pack and the next day it will limit it to one pack per transaction). Remember that since the $2 coupon is a Walgreens coupon rather than a manufacturer's coupon, you can keep it and re-use it. In my opinion, the Walgreens premium diapers (the ones in the green pack) are of similar quality to the high end brands.

Remember - if they don't have the size you want, get a raincheck so you can go back at any time in the next few months to get the same deal.

And... if you took advantage of the Huggies deal I wrote about last week, this is a great way to use up your $10 register receipts that you received.

100 Things You Can Make For Free

Convenience aside, have you ever sat back and thought "I wonder if I could make that?" Well, check out this cool post by Bliss Tree. There's a list of 100 things you can make for free. OK, I don't think I'll be trekking out any time soon to make my own maple syrup or a back yard shed, but I'd try making fingerpaints and mouthwash (not at the same time). And yes, I've made play dough from scratch and it was totally cool and lasted months!

25% Off Any Victoria's Secret Purchase

Victoria's Secret has been very generous with coupons lately. Here's another one. A 25% off coupon on any full price purchase. If you plan on visiting more than once, be sure to also pick up some free body scrub or some free panties.

Sample Sunday - Your Guide to This Week's Free Samples

Here’s a list of the free samples you can take advantage of this week:

Parent’s Choice Formula - Read my previous post about how you can get free Parent's Choice formula every month!

Kotex

Johnson and Johnson ActiveFlex Lightweight Cohesive Tape

More Kotex...Kotex Ultra Thin Overnight Pads with Wings

The below is a picture of what I’ve received for free in the past month. Utilize Sample Sunday, use your coupons and pay attention when you open the mail or when you’re in the store and you can easily get free samples.

Cheerios – A coupon arrived in the mail from General Mills. When it went on sale, the cereal was free after coupon.
Organic Weetabix – I sent in a rebate that was on the front of a box. They were mean to send me a coupon for free organic dried fruit, but they ran out of those, so they sent a coupon for a free box of Organic Weetabix instead. This week, you'll find $1 coupons for Weetabix in the coupon section of my blog.
Kashi Frozen Dinner – I posted about this here. This sample is still available. Rumor has it that it expires on March 15th.
Del Monte Peaches – I posted about this here. This is no longer available.
Yogi Tea – I posted about this here. Since then, I’ve received not only the sample I requested, but they’ve sent me other samples too. They have temporarily stopped the free samples, but they have a mailing list that you can join as they'll probably offer more in the future.
Emergen-C – You can get yours for free here.
Don Francisco Coffee – This offer has expired.
DenTek Floss Pick – I posted about this here. The samples are gone, but you can still get coupons here.
Quaker True Delights Bar – I posted about this here. This sample is still available.
Tuna – I signed up for free at Vocalpoint, and they send all sorts of free things and coupons. This time, they sent coupons for tuna and when the tuna was on sale for 50% off at Kroger, I was able to get it for free after coupons.
Band Aid Closures – I was in the bandaid isle and noticed that these were on closeout, so they were free after coupon.
Gillette Shampoo – This was on sale at the store. I then combined the coupon in my local paper with the P&G EasySaver e-coupon that I got by linking my Kroger card to the EasySaver site and it was free.
Pampers Diapers, Wipes, Body Wash and Lotion – I posted about this here. As of today, you can still get the wipes.
Viva Paper Towels – I posted about this here. As of today, samples are still available.

Free Chuck E. Cheese Calendars/Tokens

A couple of years ago, I headed down to Walmart to look for some reward calendars for my then 2-years old. I found a couple of calendars, but these look much cooler. If you're looking for a way to reward your little tike's accomplishments (getting dressed, brushing teeth, cleaning room, potty training, manners, etc.), go to Chuck E. Cheese to download your free calendars and print them out. Mark the days off with a pen as your child accomplishes his/her goals, take a calendar to Chuck E. Cheese and you'll get 10 free tokens as a reward (and be sure to check local circulars for additional tokens).

Where to Pick Your Own Fruits and Veges

Have you ever gone to a farm and picked your own fruits and veges? Well, if you haven’t, you really should give it a try. There’s just something to be said about getting produce directly from the source.

If you’re interested in picking your own produce, check out http://www.pickyourown.org/. The website lists farms (and farmers markets) in the USA and other countries along with crop calendars so that you can plan your trip. They also have an abundance of resources on finding canning equipment and supplies, making jam, preserving, etc. I looked up my own county and it turns out that in a 20-30 minute drive, I can pick blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, muscadines, apples, pears, pumpkins, scuppernongs (not even sure what these are – will have to google this), tomatoes, figs, squash, tomatoes, corn, potatoes, muscadines and more and we’re not even in a rural area!

Be patient with the site, it takes a while to load, but it’s worth it if you’re serious about finding local places to pick fresh fruits and veges.

I took my sons to the strawberry patch twice last year. We picked strawberries and made strawberry jam and strawberry ice cream. We were so hooked on home made jam that I then went on to make peach jam and pear preserves. We also went to a pumpkin patch, at which point I made pumpkin pies from scratch (I guess I was feeling particularly domesticated last year). I wanted to pick apples too, but by the time I figured out where we could go to pick them, the season was already over. With Pick Your Own, I’m not going to miss the apple-picking season this year. What’s funny to me though is that we live in the Peach State, and we don’t have a peach orchard in our county! Go figure…

Free True Blue Spa Item and Bath and Body Works

Go ahead and pamper yourself like an Affluent Pauper. You can use this coupon to get a True Blue Spa travel item (worth up to $6) with any purchase at Bath and Body Works thru 3/15/09. You can find products as low as $1 at Bath and Body Works.

Free Panties at American Eagle's Aerie Store

You can get free panties at Aerie (American Eagle's version of GapBody). Yep, I didn't even know that American Eagle had a store called Aerie until Northern Cheapskate wrote about this hot deal. But then again, what better way for American Eagle to get people in to their Aerie stores than to offer free underwear. Click here to print your coupon for free panties! This offer is valid through 3/18/09.

Speaking of getting people in to stores, did you take advantage of the Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy Friends and Family event that I wrote about last week? I found that BR had the best deals. Many of the items are already marked down by 30% and with the Friends and Family event (thru March 15) you get an additional 30% off. As if that isnt enough, you can then get an additional 10% off if you're a BR cardholder! Hey, it got me in the doors, and let me tell you, the stuff in there is nice! I hadn't been in to a BR in over a year - I was always disappointed by what was on the racks. I hope new designer Simon Kneen keeps up the awesome work... and Gap Inc., you'll be issuing Family and Friends passes again to the public in the Fall, right?

Three Pack of Huggies for $5!

At Walgreens this week, a pack of Huggies Gentle Care Diapers is $10. Use this $5 coupon and you'll get the pack for $5. Or buy a regular jumbo pack of Huggies Diapers for $10. Use this $3 coupon and you'll get the pack for $7. If you purchase more than $25 worth of participating items in this week's Walgreens flyer, you'll get $10 off your next Walgreens order. The way I plan to use this? I plan to buy 3 packs of Huggies Gentle Care for $30. I'll use three $5 coupons (if you hit the backspace bar, you'll get two coupons and get a friend to print the other one), so I'll pay $15 at the register. I'll then get $10 back towards my next purchase. So essentially, I'll get 3 packs of diapers for $5! Yey - this is great because I only have two packs of diapers left from the amazing free diapers I got from Walgreens a few months ago.

Buy 5 Items, Get $5 in Savings

Another rebate form worth keeping on hand... If you purchase 5 items from the following list: Hungry Man dinners, Aunt Jemima Pancakes, Mrs. Pauls Fish Sticks, Duncan Hines Brownies, Van de Camps Fish Sticks, Pinnacle Foods Group will send you five $1 savings coupons. For more info. and the rebate form, click here. I'm going to use this and purchase Lenders bagels. I know that Publix often has these bagels "buy one get one free", so they work out to less than $1 per packet when they're on sale. I'll purchase 5 packets for under $5 (if they go on sale before this offer ends) and get $5 in savings back from Pinnacle. You must purchase the items by 3/31/09.

Get $5 Rebate from Birds Eye

I hope you managed to take advantage of the $1.99 copy of Madagascar 2 that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. That deal has ended, but Birds Eye Viola is offering a $5 rebate when you mail in a proof of purchase from the Madagascar 2 DVD and 2 bags of Birds Eye Viola. Get your rebate form here. Of course, we're always trying to get a deal on top of a deal here at Affluent Pauper, so if you know of any current Birds Eye coupons available, please comment. The rebate deal is valid until 5/15/09.

Free Redbox Movies on Wednesdays

Back in December, I posted about how Redbox issues codes for free movies on Mondays. Well, during March, you can get codes for free movie rentals on Wednesdays also. Today's code is DVDONME.

For other codes, check the Inside Redbox site.
