Free Diapers and Other Hot Grocery Deals – Week of July 20, 2008

Walgreens (Sun-Sat)
FREE DIAPERS (again!). Jumbo Walgreens Diapers are on sale again for $5.99 (reg $8.99). I really figured that Walgreens would pull the plug on this, but they obviously didn’t. Earlier this month, I was able to pick up 700 FREE diapers and 150 training pants for my little guys. I purchased the Comfort Stretch Premium diapers last time I did this – they have a couple of diapers less per pack than Comfort Stretch regular diapers, but they’re a much better diaper. Here’s how it’s done…

Get the red and white Walgreens pharmacy booklet that has $50 worth of coupons in it from the pharmacy. They give it out if you ask about their prescription plan and many employees will give you a blank stare, but it is something Walgreens offers. The coupon will take $2 off each pack of diapers you buy. Combine this with the $5 off 2 coupon in the July EasySaver booklet. Through July 28, if you buy 3 packs of diapers in one transaction, you’ll also get a $5 coupon towards your next purchase after you’ve paid.

Here’s the math on 3 packs of diapers ($5.99x3=17.97-$6 (pharmacy booklet coupons)-$7.50 (EasySaver booklet) = $4.47+.72 (tax) = $5.19 (this is what you’ll pay at the register). You’ll then get $5 back towards your next in-store purchase. So you’ll essentially get 3 packs for 19c which means you’re getting the diapers for free and paying only 19c in tax!

I asked two Walgreens employees at my local store and they said the coupons could be combined, but be sure to check with your local store as Walgreens is notoriously inconsistent with their policies. Having said that, I purchased all my diapers from three different stores and it worked each time. Hold on to your coupons. After they’ve scanned them, you do not have to surrender your Walgreens coupons and can use them again. Remember not to use the $5 coupon towards more diapers as it will not issue another $5 coupon.

Pantene Pro-V Beautiful Lengths Shampoo and Conditioners (reg $4.99). On sale 2/$8. Use $2 off 1 coupon in July P&G insert and then send in the $4 off 2 coupon in the Walgreens EasySaver catalog and after rebate, they’re FREE.
Garnier Hair Color (reg $7.99). Use 2/$10 coupon in 7/20 Walgreens flyer. Combine that with the $3 coupon that was in the 5/4 RedPlum and you’ll get it for $2.
Reynolds Aluminum Foil 20ft (reg $1.69). Use 89c ea 7/20 Walgreens flyer coupon and combine it with $1 off 2 Smartsource 6/22 coupon, and they it’s 39c per roll.
Bic Comfort 3 Disposable Razors (reg. $5.99). Use coupon in 7/20 Walgreens flyer and combine it with $2 off coupon in 7/20 Smartsource to get them for 99c.

CVS (Sun-Sat)
L'Oreal Vive Pro Hydra Gloss Shampoo and Conditioner (reg $5.49) is BOGO. Use your BOGO coupon that was in the 7/13 paper to get it for FREE.

Publix (Sun-Wed)
There are the usual BOGOs, but nothing spectacular this week. But you can get Suave Naturals Shampoo and Conditioners for only 33c (reg. $1.59). They’re on sale for $1 each, but if you use your $2 off 3 coupon that was in the 7/13 Redplum, you can get three of them for 33c each.

Kroger (Sun-Sat)
Fresh split chicken breast for $1.19 Ib.

It’s getting late, so I’ll update you on the rest tomorrow…
