School either started this week or is starting in the next couple of weeks here in Atlanta, so this weekend is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of Georgia's tax free weekend (July 30-Aug 2). If you're not in Georgia, go to your state's Department of Revenue website to see when you'll get your tax free weekend.
I'm going to see if I can pick up some school uniforms and other back to school and office supplies (only taking advantage of the amazing back to school supplies deals available of course).
What qualifies as tax free this weekend.
Articles of Clothing. The exemption applies to articles of clothing and footwear with a sales price of $100 or less per item. Clothing accessories such as handbags, umbrellas, cuff links, handkerchiefs, jewelry, key cases, wallets, watches and watch bands, and ponytail holders and/or similar hair products are not exempt. See lists of exempt items.
Personal Computers. A single purchase of $1,500 or less of personal computers and/or related accessories is exempt. If the single purchase exceeds $1,500, the entire transaction is taxable. See list of exempt items.
General School Supplies. The exemption applies to the purchase of general school supplies with a sales price of $20 or less per item. See list of exempt items.
An additional note - if you're in the market for new appliances and other energy and water-efficient products, the tax free days for those items are Oct 1-4 this year.
